Which ad types are currently supported?
New ad types are constantly added by our friends over at Google, and keeping up to date is always a challenge. We do ensure we keep things up to date. Currently, the following ad types are supported:
Skippable In-stream ads
Skippable in-stream ads play before, during, or after other videos or as a full-screen interstitial ad that plays before a viewer can proceed within a mobile app. After 5 seconds, the viewer has an option to skip the ad. More information on this ad type can be found on Google's support article.
Non Skippable In-stream ads
Non-skippable in-stream ads are 30 seconds or shorter, and play before, during, or after other videos. Viewers don't have the option to skip the ad. More information on this ad type can be found on Google's support article.
Note: Some non-skippable in-stream ads may also appear on YouTube TV, depending on eligibility. Learn more About YouTube TV ads.
Bumper ads
Bumper ads are 6 seconds or shorter, and play before, during, or after another video. Viewers don't have the option to skip the ad. More information on this ad type can be found on Google's support article.
What about other ad types?
We try to stay on the ball when it comes to supporting the various YouTube ad types, but in some cases we need to do additional R&D to ensure we stay true to our scientific nature. For more information on these and other ad types, head over to Google's support article on this topic.
