I'm new to junbi, how do I start processing ads?

So you're new to junbi and you want to pre-test your first ad? Great! All you need to do is follow these few simple steps:

Note: To start processing ads, you need to have an active junbi account with either a user or admin role. Users with a 'view only' role will not be able to process new ads.

  1. First, you need to go to the home page and click 'Upload video' or click the 'Start test' button from the left navigation menu.
  2. Next, you need to choose a video ad that you need to test. You have the choice to either upload the video ad in .mp4 or .mov format, or you can provide a YouTube URL, and your ad will automatically be downloaded to the junbi servers.

Also, keep in mind that junbi is optimised for processing YouTube ads, so we do not recommend you try to test other advertising material as the effectiveness scores may not be representative.

  3. Now, you need to enter the details about your ad so we know how to test it. You will need to enter 2 inputs here:
    1. Pre-test name: What do you want to call your pre-test?
    2. Brand name: What brand are you looking to test for in the ad? Select the correct brand name from the dropdown menu to ensure we are searching for the right brand. You can learn more about this in key considerations for ad testing.
  4. Now, you will need to define the Viewer mode: Different YouTube video player modes have different dimensions, and therefore different surroundings within the screen, which changes how your ad will break through. When you create your pre-test, junbi automatically tests your ad against a range of relevant YouTube contexts (backgrounds), depending on which video player mode you have selected.

You will not see this in the result screen, as it is all calculated by the algorithm - but to give you an idea, take a look at the image below to see how your video would appear in a desktop video player mode.

  5. Next, you need to select which of the 3 YouTube video ad types you wish to test for: Nonskippable in-stream, Skippable in-stream, or Bumper. You will see a brief description of each ad type on the screen, which also provides details about the length requirements of each ad type.
  6. Once you click next, your ad will start being processed. This takes a few minutes to generate the heatmap and calculate the scores. Waiting times may be longer in busy periods.
  7. Once your ad has finished processing, click the 'show output' button and you will be redirected to the analysis of your video ad. Time to take a look at some of the elements you will find there:
    1. In the media player, you can see your ad with the attention heatmap overlay and brand attention bounding box. This indicates where the visual attention is going at any given time.
    2. In the top-right corner, you will receive an overall effectiveness score out of 100. This is an overall indicator of how effective your ad is predicted to be.
    3. Beneath the media viewer, you will see 3 boxes with coloured scores in a little circle. These are the 3 key drivers of ad effectiveness, and the scores indicate how well your ad performs in each given category relative to a benchmark of hundreds of YouTube ads.
    4. If you expand the tab at the bottom, you will see the 3 effectiveness drivers visualised over time. By hovering your mouse over the line you should be able to see the exact value at any given time, so you can know what moments in your ad are working well and what needs improvement. If you wish to hide any of these lines you can click the small eye icon on the right.
  8. Once you've taken a look at your scores, download the output for later use by clicking the 'download' button on the right side.

That's it! Check out the article on how to interpret your results to learn more about what to do with the information you see on-screen.
